Fare Types and Rules - All Types
Important Notes
- These fare rules apply to flights operated by Air China and tickets issued through chinaairticket.com, an independent booking agent. They are provided for guidance only and do not replace the official fare conditions displayed at the time of booking.
- A ticket’s refundability, change allowance, penalties, and applicable fees are determined by the fare basis and Air China’s Conditions of Carriage. These may vary by route, cabin class, fare type, and booking channel.
- Any fare difference and/or change fee resulting from ticket changes must be paid by the passenger in accordance with applicable fare rules.
- Failure to travel or to cancel a booking before departure (no-show) may result in forfeiture of ticket value, subject to fare conditions. Certain taxes, if refundable, may be returned.
- Air China’s Conditions of Carriage govern all aspects of carriage, including refund, change, baggage liability, delays, cancellations, and denied boarding.
1. Ticket Validity
- Standard tickets are generally valid for one (1) year from the date of commencement of travel.
- If a ticket is completely unused, validity is generally one (1) year from the date of issue.
- Ticket validity is subject to fare conditions. Promotional or special fares may have shorter validity periods or additional restrictions.
2. Changes and Rebooking
2.1 Flight Changes
- Changes to flight date, time, routing, or flight number are subject to:
- the fare rules of the purchased ticket
- seat availability in the same or higher fare class
- Change fees may apply per passenger, per route, and per change.
- Any fare difference between the original ticket and the new ticket must be paid by the passenger.
2.2 Name Changes
- Name changes are generally restricted or not permitted under most Air China fare rules.
- Where allowed, name changes are subject to:
- strict airline approval
- applicable fees
- Minor name corrections (e.g. spelling errors) may be accepted at Air China’s discretion.
3. Refund Policy
3.1 Voluntary Refunds
- Refund eligibility depends on the fare conditions of the ticket purchased.
- Some promotional or discounted fares may be non-refundable, except for refundable government or airport taxes.
3.2 Refund Calculation
Where permitted, refund amounts may be calculated based on:
- unused fare value
- used segments (for partially traveled tickets, recalculated per fare rules)
- applicable taxes (some taxes may be refundable even if the fare itself is non-refundable)
- cancellation or refund penalties according to fare conditions
Agent service fees are generally non-refundable, unless otherwise required by law.
4. 24-Hour Free Cancellation Rule
Passengers may cancel their booking within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund, provided that:
- the booking is made at least 7 days (168 hours) prior to the scheduled departure time, and
- no portion of the ticket has been used.
This policy applies to all fare types in accordance with applicable consumer protection regulations.
5. No-Show Policy
- A passenger is considered a no-show if they fail to check in or board a scheduled flight without prior cancellation.
- In the event of a no-show:
- the ticket may be treated as used
- the ticket value may be forfeited
- only certain refundable taxes, if applicable, may be refunded
No-show conditions are governed by the fare rules of the purchased ticket.
6. Baggage Allowance
- Free baggage allowance is determined by:
- route (domestic or international)
- cabin class
- fare type
- Passengers must comply with Air China’s baggage policies.
- Excess baggage fees apply for baggage exceeding the free allowance.
- Liability for loss, delay, or damage to baggage is limited under applicable international conventions and airline regulations.
7. Flight Irregularities
- Flight schedules are subject to change due to operational, safety, or regulatory reasons.
- In cases of airline-initiated delays, cancellations, or diversions:
- passengers may be entitled to involuntary rebooking or refunds
- applicable fees may be waived in accordance with airline policy
- Compensation, if any, is determined by applicable laws and Air China regulations.
8. Agent Role and Responsibility
- Chinaairticket.com acts solely as an independent booking intermediary.
- All flights are operated by Air China.
- Chinaairticket.com is not responsible for flight operations, schedule changes, aircraft substitution, or onboard services.
9. Governing Rules
- These Fare Rules supplement, but do not replace, Air China’s Conditions of Carriage, which remain legally binding.
- In case of any inconsistency, Air China’s official rules shall prevail.
- Where applicable, the official Chinese-language version shall be controlling.
